22 weeks

What is baby up to at 22 weeks? (from baby center)

At 11 inches and almost 1 pound (about the size of a spaghetti squash), your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he’s even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment.

New: Since my last post (19 weeks), we had our anatomy scan and didn’t find out the gender! Baby’s heart rate was 153. And just a couple of days ago, Derek felt movement and a couple kicks for the first time. We both saw a kick for the first time as well!
Weight gain: I’ve gained 5 pounds (went down a pound after coming back from vacation and then back up again). Some people have said that I look small for being over half way so I checked with my family doctor. I was measuring right on target and she thinks my weight gain is just fine. She went on a bit of a rant re: women in North American and now in England gaining too much in pregnancy.
Sleep: Sleeping well most nights. I’ve noticed our schedules getting very full and busy with Christmas approaching. I’m trying to make going to bed at a good time more of a priority.
Movement: Been feeling movement since 19 weeks and I’m feeling kicks on a daily basis.
Symptoms: I haven’t mentioned this in previous posts but pregnancy has made my skin more dry and itchy (I already had dry skin/skin problems that are worse now). I don’t have “the glow” unless I put on cover-up 😉  I have to lotion my legs and hands regularly as well as my face.
Looking forward to: Seeing family at Christmas. And I’m going to take the day after New years off to start putting together our nursery! That room requires de-cluttering and organizing before we can start setting up furniture.

  1. I’m glad the anatomy scan went well. I forget, did you not find out the sex of the baby on purpose? I hear you on the dry skin. Mine is worse now too and I have to lotion up every day! Hugs!

    1. We decided not to find out the sex of the baby til birth. My husband would like to know but I really would like to wait. He said it was more important to me so we’ll wait. Dry skin…ugh. Pregnancy has caused me to have more skin issues, not less like this “glow” some women have 🙂 Have a great weekend!

      1. That’s super nice of your husband. 🙂 I’m sorry that you’re having skin issues. I feel like a teenager because I have gotten lots of pimples and dry skin. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  2. Hormones reak havoc on one’s thyroid (if already issues) and blood sugars (if tendency to insulin resistence) and these can worsen skin issues already present. Take care and eat balanced.
