What is baby up to at 30 weeks? (from baby center):
Your baby’s about 15.7 inches long now and weighs almost 3 pounds (about the size of a large cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will shrink as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it’s not very keen; even after she’s born, she’ll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she’ll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)
New: Since my last post (28 weeks), I’ve developed a major urge to nest. Sometimes I stress myself out with all that needs to or could be done before baby. I’ve got a long “before baby” list. I’m trying to focus on what I can do each day vs. getting overwhelmed with the list.
We had our first childbirth class this week. I thought it was really good! Even though this class is pricier than another one we could have taken, I’m glad we spent the money.
I broke the zipper on my coat last week 😦 Well, it broke right where my belly is the biggest. I continue to wear the coat but just do up the buttons. I’ll have to switch to a new coat soon…sigh.
Weight gain: Up 16 pounds @ 30 weeks. People comment that I’m small. While I didn’t gain at all in trimester 1 and really started gaining towards the end of trimester 2, I seem to be gaining about 2 pounds a week in trimester 3! Eek.
Sleep: Decent but I need to figure out what I’m doing wrong/how my hands are situated as I sleep? My charlie horse leg cramps have improved greatly (less than 1x a week) but now I’m waking up with a tingly or sore hand. Today has been the worst so far – my right wrist still hurts and it’s 1pm. Today feels like carpel tunnel but I was fine before going to bed last night.
Movement: Baby seems to mostly hang out on my right side. Recently, at times I experience pain to my right hip bone. Baby certainly has periods of rest (where I feel no movement at all) and then periods of movement. I don’t get when people say that their baby moves ALL the time?
Symptoms: Derek asked me if I feel done with being pregnant. I said “no way – too much to do!” He was wondering if the physical symptoms have me feeling done with pregnancy. Thankfully, not yet! We’ll see as time goes on.
Looking forward to: Finally picking out our stroller. There’s no place around here to test drive a good variety of strollers. Derek and I are thinking of doing a day-trip to Ottawa this month to get our hands on some good quality strollers and pick one. It will be such a relief when we have our stroller!
