3 Nonessential Baby Items That Make Your Life Easier

The following are baby products that I’ve purchased since having a baby. I either wasn’t aware of these items or didn’t feel that I needed them until baby was here. They are all items that help make life with an infant a bit easier!

1) A Ring Sling.

Chimparoo Ring Sling

Due to having a weak back, I originally didn’t like the idea of a ring sling. We purchased an Ergo Carrier as this seems to be the best for those with back issues and for long periods of baby wearing. While we plan to still use the Ergo when she reaches 12+ lbs (recommended to wait until then), I purchased a ring sling! What I like about the ring sling is 1) how quick it is to get baby inside 2) how compact the ring sling is – it fits in the diaper bag and 3) I like the tail on the ring sling. I’ve used the tail to shade her from the sun, wind and mosquitos. I’m glad to have a ring sling in addition to the Ergo! The ring sling is perfect for newborns as they can lay in the cradle position.

2) Activity Mat.

We were given another activity mat at our shower that’s best for tummy time play. Since our baby hates tummy time and loves to kick, this mat is awesome! She’s laying on this mat and kicking the piano notes as I type! We lucked out and got this on-sale at Toys R Us in the States for $42.

3) The Froggie Chair.

I didn’t learn about this chair until after she was born. Now that she’s 3 months old I’m looking for alternatives to having her sit in the swing. This cute chair just arrived in the mail today and I’m looking forward to having her sit in it (and the photos that will be taken with her in it! Adorable). I purchased this off amazon.ca for $41, it’s often listed on amazon.com for $35. Not bad. The verdict is still out on this one on whether it makes life a tad easier or not. Here’s hoping!

  1. Thanks for sharing these. I have a wrap to carry Emerson in, but I want to get something sturdier. I am looking at a couple of carriers and will check out the ring sling. Emerson really likes her activity gym too. 🙂 I have never heard of a frog chair. I’m going to take a look! I hope you are well.

    1. If you are looking for something sturdier – I’d suggest the Ergo. The wrap is great for short-term use (handy that it fits in the diaper bag unlike the Ergo). Thanks – I’m very tired today but doing well over-all. Hope you are well too 🙂
